“But Jesus said, “You feed them.” Mark 6:37 NLT
Mark chapter 6 in the Bible is for for me one of the greatest. It speaks to me in many ways. Containing such significant amounts of content that challenges and assures me. This chapter teaching us that those closest to us may be the most rejecting of the new life we have found in Jesus. Showing us the importance and need to rest and have quiet time alone with the Father. Seeing Jesus beautiful heart when he was trying to escape to rest, “having compassion” on those who came to see and hear him. Providing spiritual food vital for eternal life and physical food to soothe the hunger of the crowd. Walking on water, intending to walk past his disciples in the boat, then allowing Peter to walk with him and in that moment, rescue him yet again.
His command to his disciple in verse 37 resonates with me every day. “You feed them.” There is no ‘out’ for his disciples in these instructions. We are his disciples. You (Myron/your name here) feed them! I love that there is no ambiguity in Jesus’ instructions. He is a compassionate leader whose instructions are clear and his purpose for himself while on earth and our purpose now, laser focused. Feed them!
You feed them! So, we are instructed and assigned the task of sharing the good news of a great God. We are assigned the role of love. Of compassion. Of help. Of encouragement. Of getting in the weeds to walk with the new life springing from a dirty garden filled with life-choking traps. We are to feed, weed, cultivate, fertilize and expose others to the light that is Life. Jesus. Only and always Jesus.
“for they still didn’t understand the significance of the miracle of the loaves. Their hearts were too hard to take it in.” Mark 6:52. NLT
My encouragement to you today is to take a chance and be vulnerable. Expose your heart to someone whose heart is broken. Be a life cardiologist today and allow the hands of the Savior to feed someone through your hands. Step out of the World’s lie of the “comfort zone” and into the Father’s anointing on your life to be a source of hope. Accept that you are God’s vessel through which many need to be introduced to Him. That’s it. Make the introduction and then make yourself available. Be the source of life-introduction through life-example and food introduction, aka the Bible.
“Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.” John 6:35 NIV
I pray that each of our hearts are softened today. That a cold and callous World has no power against the soft, warm and welcoming arms of the Father to his children through our lives.
You’ve got this.
