Do you ever wonder about your worth and value in this World? We live in a time where value is based upon numbers. Numbers of social media friends. Numbers of cars. Number of square feet in a house. Number of vacations taken. Number of digits in a bank account. Number of countries visited. Numbers of calories injected. Number of calories burned. (Paradoxical!)
It is easy to get caught up in the frivolous and frankly, sinful view of numbers. Assigning our significance to numbers is diminishing the value of self and our worth to God. While the World shouts how much, God quietly, consistently and eternally says how valuable. How valuable you/we are in his eyes. How significant our contribution to the tapestry that makes up our World. His World, that we are allowed to live and thrive. His World where we are called to introduce every human being that crosses our path to Him. And they don’t cross our path by happenstance but by God’s very placement of us and them in that moment.
“For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.” Psalm 139:13-16 ESV
So today I just want you to know that God says you are infinitely significant because He created you. Every number that matters, matters to God. Those numbers are the inhabitants of this planet, who He formed and has known before time began. Life’s not fair by human standards. Eternal life equally unfair by human measurement. How amazing that our value is assigned by a Grace and Mercy measuring tape that is supernatural in existence and never-ending in assurance.
You matter. Your matter was created because you matter. Whatever has come before is for this moment and time. Your number is the hope and good news for so many numbers coming in your path. Your value is exponentially valuable to the Assigner of all value. You are loved by the Creator of love. That my sister or brother is enough.
